Property code: OLDFO

This property enjoys a quiet rural location where visitors can join the South West Coast Path, which will bring them to secluded coves, river valleys, and picturesque waterfalls. The views, of course, are stunning, but the number of shipwrecks which walkers pass is a stark reminder of the tempestuous nature of the sea. Luckily for beach-lovers, there are several lovely sandy beaches, within easy reach, including those at Westward Ho! and Bude, which are both around a thirty-minute drive from the property. Bude also has a tidal pool, providing safe bathing no matter what the conditions at sea.

This single-storey property is perfect for those who want to enjoy a holiday away from the stresses of daily life. The lounge/diner provides a cosy and welcoming space in which to relax, with its warming open fire, TV/DVD. In the warmer months, guests can throw open the patio door and enjoy the breeze and the fresh countryside air from the comfortable sofas. The kitchen offers a second dining space, in the form of a breakfast bar and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, washing machine, and fridge, whilst a separate storage area houses the freezer and tumble dryer, as well as providing a secure place in which to store bikes, etc. There are two bedrooms in the property: a master double, and a pretty twin room. The bathroom in the property offers a shower over bath and WC.

Outside, there is a spacious, enclosed garden, mainly set to lawn, to the side of the property, which has garden furniture, providing guests with their own area to sit and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Guests are welcome to take a look around the farm, but should remember that this is a working farm and children will need to be supervised.

  • 2 bedrooms: 1 double, and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • TV/DVD
  • Wi-Fi is at property - due to the rural location this can be intermittent and can drop out.
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer
  • Supermarket delivery from Asda, Sainsbury’s, or Tesco available
  • Ample parking provided
  • Shops and pubs 4 miles, sandy beach 14 miles
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Forge with our two dogs. Fabulously located within 10 minutes walk of the coastal path with its amazing views of the Devon coastline. This was our 2nd stay at the Old Forge. A very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Lots of walks near-by. Our dogs (Jack Russell and Patterdale Terrier) loved the large enclosed garden to run around in. We'll definitely be booking this cottage again.

I went to the cottage with my friend and her dog. The garden was secure which was a real plus so the dog could wander in and out. The area was really peaceful. Nice cottage with everything needed for a quiet week away with our dogs. There is a path just across the road that leads down to the coastal walk along the cliff tops, but the local lanes are very narrow and not really safe to walk along. Be aware that it is about 4 miles to the nearest shop, so forward planning is essential, and that the local roaRead moreds are very narrow with few useable passing places. Luckily there is very little traffic. Hide

Great little cottage but quite remote for those not looking to travel out and explore the wider area. No WiFi at present. Garden spacious and secure for dogs, although our small breeds did manage to escape through the gap in the gate.
