Nearby Hamsterley Forest it offers guests a real outdoor experience, great for adventurous bikers. Visit the market town of Barnard Castle home to a French designed Chateau - Bowes Museum with its collection of art. The iconic Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle are both steeped in history, wander through the city centre to find lots of hidden gems from boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants.

This newly renovated former dairy building is now a homely ground-floor resting in the owners working farm grounds with luscious green views. This humble abode is a great spot for couples or a small family seeking a countryside retreat. Stepping through the front door into a welcoming hallway where you can hang you coat and leave your shoes. Head down the hallway to the kitchen/diner, which boasts electric oven and gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine so you can rustle up a lovely home-cooked meal, or a hearty breakfast before starting your day. Then through to the lounge and nestle down together on the sofas as you delight in your peaceful surroundings, or watch a film on the Smart TV and also has French doors that lead out to the courtyard. Then on to the two bedrooms, one king-size and the second being a king-size zip and link (which can be made into a 2ft6” twin on request) both providing plenty of space and storage. The bathroom has a bath, separate shower and WC.

Guests can access the central courtyard patio from the lounge and one of the bedrooms, an ideal spot to sit in peace and take in your quiet surroundings. There is private off-road parking available.

So pleased that we chose The Old Dairy for our holiday. We had an amazing stay. It was immaculately clean and perfectly styled. The accommodation was perfect and I would not hesitate to recommend it. The owners were lovely and everything we needed was provided. Everything was finished to a very high standard. The location was perfect as there were several places of interest to visit within a 30 minute drive and lots of good pubs nearby. I would not hesitate to recommend.

The accommodation is beautifully presented, clean, comfortable, practical and well equipped. The location is quiet with stunning views. The Old Dairy feels like a home away from home and, with its welcoming hosts, is a pleasure to stay in.
