Property code: 37116

One-of-two delightful cottages sleeping four guests, offering a private hot tub, situated on the owner’s Northumbrian farm, just seven miles from the bustling seaside town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

This cottage is situated on the owner’s farm close to the Scottish borders, in a quiet, rural part of Northumberland. The surrounding area is the perfect destination for those who like nothing better than spending time in nature, exploring the beauty of the local area. The coast is just six miles away, with the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, just a few miles to the south. A visit to Holy Island is a wonderful experience, as it is accessible only by tidal causeway, and, being home to just 160 residents, is an unspoilt natural habitat for an abundance of wildlife, as well as being a site of religious pilgrimage and historic interest.  Beautiful St Abbs is a short drive away and offers some fantastic walks, a nature reserve and excellent diving.  The Berwickshire coast is renowned for its abundance and diversity of marine wildlife.  If you enjoy an adrenalin rush, highly recommended is the Eyemouth Rib boat trip.  Within an hour’s train journey are the cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle with their excellent shopping and leisure facilities. Mountain bikers and walkers are spoilt for choice with numerous country and coastal tracks to explore.  This area is a golfers paradise and boasts numerous golf courses all within a short drive, The Roxburgh course is a real champion test and has hosted several top events.  Both fishing and shooting is available locally and fishermen will be delighted with the famous river Tweed renowned for its excellent trout and salmon fishing.  Kelso race course is a short drive away, it is a national hunt racecourse staging jumps racing from September through to May and hosts other events during the year. For a busier day out, head to Berwick-upon-Tweed, a bustling seaside town with a thriving arts scene, and a good range of shops and places to eat.

This cottage is one-of-two located on the owner’s farm and is a fantastic place to enjoy a quiet retreat. Stepping inside, guests will find the lounge/diner, a relaxing space which is furnished with two inviting sofas and has a TV/DVD providing entertainment in the evenings. The kitchen area, at the opposite end of the hallway, is a light-filled space equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher, whilst the washing machine is kept in the separate utility room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the first of which is a double room, whilst the second is a restful twin room, both of which have sloping cottage ceilings and therefore some reduced head-height. The bathroom, which is also on the first floor, offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

Outside, there is an enclosed garden to the rear of the property, where guests will find the sumptuous hot tub, which provides the perfect place to unwind whilst enjoying the views across the surrounding countryside. Next to the hot tub, a seating area offers garden furniture and a BBQ area, making it ideal for enjoying alfresco drinks and meals. There is ample off-road parking, as well as outside hose to wash bikes and mucky dogs.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

I thought the cottage was one of the best equipped self catering properties I have stayed in. The welcome pack on arrival was a great surprise and enjoyed by us all! The hot tub was great as well and my children loved sitting in there in the dark. I would definitely visit again. The location was ideal for travelling too.
