  • Lovely country cottage converted from an old 18th-century cart shed
  • Situated on a working family farm, on the edge of an unspoilt rural village
  • Right on the Oxfordshire Cycle Way, and close to many countryside walks
Property code: CC061

This cute country cottage still props the old cartwheel on the front porch and combines original character with guest needs.

The property lies quietly on the edge of the small village of Northmoor, close to the Thames Valley with a pretty stream running through and ducks roaming freely. Here you will find a community owned pub offering good local food just a 2-minute walk away. The nearby village of Standlake has a small shop and a pub. Witney is 7 miles away and offers a range of shops, banks and amenities. Ideally situated right on the Oxfordshire Cycle Way and just a mile from riding stables, footpaths and fishing on the Thames (available on the farm for £2 per day), there is an abundance of country pursuits to explore and if you are lucky, a wealth of wildlife ranging from deer and badgers to barn owls and kites.

From the front porch, you walk into a small hallway and on into the lounge with comfortable sofas where you can curl up by the wood-burning stove with a good book from the fully stocked bookcase. If you decide to stay in for the evening, the lounge leads to a well-equipped kitchen/dining room including an electric oven with hob, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer and a dishwasher,  so no one needs to do the dishes. The dining area has a farmhouse table and chairs. There is a downstairs shower room with a WC. Heading up to the first floor you will come to a double bedroom and further along a twin bedroom and bathroom with bath and WC.

Outside, you will find an enclosed garden with lawned area and south facing patio with barbeque and furniture. Situated by the village church dating back to the 13th century with fantastic views over open fields, so you can sit back and relax soaking up the sun's warmth while admiring the surrounding countryside.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom and 1 shower room

A really comfortable and well equipped cottage in a great location for visiting the many varied attractions in the area. Also well placed for enjoying the many public footpaths around the village, including the Thames path between Newbridge and Bablock Hythe. A very good village pub about a two minute walk from the cottage.

Lovely quiet quaint cottage, with every thing you could possibly need provided. Lovely walks along the Thames near by and a nice log burner with plenty of wood supplied to warm up when you get in.

My wife, myself and two friends spent New a Year here and had a fabulous time. The cottage itself is welcoming and cosy, spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed with everything thought out. The local pub 'Red Lion' is a typical country pub (how they should be) serving good ale and food. Location is rural allowing many good walks and situated Read morenot too far from Oxford.
