At a glance

  • Idyllic rural location in the grounds of 12th century Clattercote Priory
  • Surrounded by paddocks, lovely views and great walks to explore
  • Unwind in the walled garden with a family BBQ
Property code: CC034

Many of the original features and the character, evoking life deep in the countryside, have been retained. Surrounded by horse paddocks, on a sprawling farm estate, it’s the very definition of a countryside hideaway. Close to the village of Clattercote, the property is at the centre of the historic-cultural axis of Oxford, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. Banbury is about six miles away, and benefits from a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as being a great place for night time entertainment. Other top visitor attractions in the area include Warwick Castle, Heritage Motor Museum, the Malvern Hills and Blenheim Palace, and there are lots of pathways for ramblers to explore the area on foot.

On arrival at the cottage you will notice that it embraces an open-plan layout. The lounge area has ample comfy seating, with a TV. The kitchen area is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer and a microwave. Also on the ground floor there are two comfortable double bedrooms. Close by, there is a bathroom with a shower over bath and WC. Upstairs there is a double bed on the mezzanine floor overlooking the living area below too, please note that the stairs are steep. There is also a fold up bed available for an extra visitor (please book ahead). There is no internal connection between the cottages.

Outside, there is a terrace and the pleasant garden space accessed from the house via French doors. The garden and farm is great place for outgoing children, as they can explore the grounds and play with the farmer’s friendly dogs. The shared garden area is enclosed from the farm and contains outdoor furniture and BBQs are provided too for evening cookouts. Guests are welcome to wander throughout the grounds – the owners ask that you take note that there is a pond near to the main house.

Had a wonderful long weekend at this cottage. 4 adults and 2 dogs. All lovely and clean. Plenty of equipment and utensils, everything we needed. Many many lovely walks nearby. Dogs loved the enclosed garden, we loved the tranquility and comfort. We did take an HDMI cable and watch tv through the laptop as tv signal is a bit dodgy. Would definitely Read morerecommend and will hopefully go back. Hide

The cottage was very comfortable and well thought out. The television reception was a little hit and miss but that's not the owners fault

A lovely barn conversion which easily sleeps 6; but the mezzanine bedroom is atop very steep narrow stairs, perhaps not suitable for small children or elderly. The other two bedrooms are well furnished and roomy. The kitchen is adequate for a week but the dishwasher is small. The lounge dining area is lovely for a family with two big sofas and a chRead moreair and dining table and chairs for 6. The garden is massive! Our dogs ran and ran round it for hours loving the space, kids could too. Hide

Wonderful place, cozy cottage and nice garden. Its a pitty that dogs are allowed on the lawn and that the heating ventilator is making noise during the day

Loved the cottage and the location, very quiet and peaceful (other than the occasional train). Great to have the enclosed garden so the dog could wander around and we could relax.. the Cotswolds is a beautiful part of the world and this was a good location to explore from. We certainly want to go back again in the future. Thank you

The location is more remote than the description states. You need to be able to drive everywhere nothing is in walking distance.

Really happy with this property. They had an air conditioning unit in the heatwave which was invaluable. They provided an additional fan also on request. They knocked on the door shortly after arrival to see if we needed anything. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Shower was hot and powerful enough.
