A beautiful setting, clean and well equipped lodge. Just what we wanted for a quiet break. However having no phone reception at all and the wifi was slow and off more than on was a worry as we had to keep driving out of the farm to the top of the main road so we could check on elderly parents and pet sitters daily.

Overall the cottage is comfortable, great location for local walks. Though it promotes having a secure garden and dog friendly the farmers dogs can access the garden. Which resulted in the dogs accessing garden and terrifying our Pet dog and in addition no control of farm dogs fouling secure garden.

The pictured lawn has been replaced by raised decking reducing space for our dogs to play. Also on two different occasions the farm dogs jumped over the wall biting our dogs before running off.

Wonderful farm location with very friendly people. My daughter loved seeing the cows being milked and the horses in the field that we overlooked. We had our dog with us and the area was perfectly secure. We did have visits from the farm dogs, but my dog loved having the company. Great location for walks and visits. A walk along the manifold valley Read morewas accessed from the property and the pasty at Wetton Mill was worth the walk. Great place, with lovely people. My daughter cried when we left! Hide

Overall, you cannot go wrong. For me, personally it's a bit on the expensive side for what it has to offer but this is just me making a comparison with the other cottages we have rented before. Sitting in front of the log-burner enjoying mulled wine(in our case) it was the main attraction for us. Summer time, probably the porch and bbq are the starRead mores of the property. Kitchen has all you need, table is set in front of a big window so you can have a great view especially in the morning. Hide

A comfortable well equipped lodge in a beautiful location, for those who like walking there are many walks direct from the lodge down to the Manifold Valley and beyond. You can stock up with food from supermarkets in Leek and Ashbourne, also plenty of places to eat out. And most important thing of all welcoming, helpful and friendly owners.
