Heading to the coast, you can visit Maryport (4.5 miles), the historic town which dates back to Roman times with it's roman museum and aquarium for rainy days, or head along to the picturesque resort of Allonby (8 miles). Inland, the bustling market town of Cockermouth (3.5 miles) is home to a choice of great places to eat and drink. This is also a great base for exploring the northern reaches of the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake within easy reach (10.5 miles), with local attractions including The Lakes Distillery (12 miles) and Whinlatter Forest Park (11.5 miles).
Situated behind the ancient stone barn, the property is accessed from the parking area via a step up to the garden gate, into the private patio and through the French doors. Entering the cottage, you will find yourself in the warm and friendly open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The pretty lounge is a perfect spot to unwind in, with comfortable seating and Smart TV . The breakfast bar is ideal for sharing your favourite meals, and the fresh, light and fully equipped kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave and fridge. The dual-aspect bedroom is a spacious and restful space, with a king-size bed, ample storage and views over the garden towards the Lorton fells. French doors lead out to a private and enclosed patio area with outdoor furniture surrounded by planters filled with colourful flowers. This is a lovely spot to relax in and take in the beautiful views looking across pasture fields to the Lorton Fells beyond, as you enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. You’re also welcome to use the owners farmhouse garden behind the cottage and you can also have a tour of the farm. There is also a lockable bike /paddle board shed which can be used.
