A very nice cottage in a quiet location. You will need a car as the property is quite a way from any public transport. You have a ruined castle while sitting at the patio on an evening. It is a short drive to Peebles, Biggar and Melrose. These are all worthy of a visit. Do not overlook the "John Buchan" museum in Peebles - it is small but very infoRead morermative. The Castles Cottage is brilliant. It's warm and cosy and very well equipped. Everything you could ask for from a holiday cottage. The enclosed garden is perfect if you have a dog. Although it's on a working farm there is little, if any, noise or intrusion. You can walk straight from the cottage and it's nicely located for exploring the Scottish BorRead moreder area. This was a great centre for exploring the area. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Great central heating and also a log burner which were brilliant in the colder nights (-12C was coldest). We were immediately adjacent to a ruined castle to survey the ruins of which attracted a wide variety of birds for us to observe.
