Staveley, a lively local village, is 7 miles away and home to the famous Hawkshead Brewery, while the bigger market town of Kendal, 6 miles, offers plenty to explore, including independent shops, the medieval castle ruins, Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Quaker Tapestry. Follow the River Sprint to Sadgill, a track climbs to Gatesgarth Pass which is open to walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. At the head of the valley, you can climb the Haweswater fells including High Street and Harter Fell. There are several off-road mountain passes that create a loop in the fells around Longsleddale and Kentmere, perfect for keen mountain bikers. Head to Bowness-on-Windermere, 12 miles away for an action-packed day on Lake Windermere, with kayaks, SUPs and canoes available for hire.

A beautiful location with breathtaking views is approached via the 0.9 mile private farm track. This cottage was built in 1616 and a stay here feels like stepping back in time. Beautiful original features such as the oak stairs, exposed stone walls and wooden beams complement modern touches, with an authentic charm throughout. Through the front door, step into the open-plan living space, the heart of the house with a lovely warming woodburner that makes this an ideal place for gathering everyone together at the end of a busy day. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and plenty of storage space, and the large dining table allows for sociable mealtimes. The utility room has a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, and enough space for bike storage.  Accessed directly from the outside, this room is very useful when you return wet and muddy from a day of fun. The ground floor bathroom has bath with shower over, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. As the evening draws in, settle on the comfy sofas with the wood burner roaring, or perhaps settle in the nook by the window with a jigsaw or book. The bathroom completes the ground floor, whilst the original oak staircase leads to four bedrooms. There is one double bedroom with a hand basin, two twin bedrooms and one single bedroom with a further hand basin.

Outside is a grassy area with fantastic panoramic views. There is ample parking by the cottage.

The cottage is in the quietest place, with idylic views. The river is relaxing to watch & listen to especially first thing in the morning. The cottage is big enough & jas everything a family will need.

What a beautiful home! There was enough space for our adult and teenage children to 'spread out' in. Although we went in August we got rather rainy weather which meant we all sat on the comfy sofas with a fire blazing. The wifi was incredible, the best wifi we've ever had. The road to get to the house is rather bumpy but we managed it no problem. TRead morehank you Helen for a lovely stay, lovely meeting you. Beautiful scenery! Hide
