Nestling adjacent to the owner’s house on a small organic farm with sheep and chickens, this delightful annexe is the perfect choice for a romantic getaway for two in a rural setting. Beyond the farm, this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts wonderful scenic walks both through the surrounding the countryside and along the Jurassic Coast. Spanning 95 miles of the Dorset and East Devon coastline, the Jurassic Coast takes in charming seaside villages and towns including nearby Charmouth and Lyme Regis. There are footpaths from the farm including to the seaside village of Charmouth which is a 2.5 mile walk from the property and offers an array of shops and pubs. Lyme Regis is also within easy reach and boasts an unspoilt seafront with sheltered south-facing beaches and traditional deckchairs that still line the promenade in summer. Other attractions in the area include the historic market town of Bridport, Abbotsbury Swannery, the charming coastal resorts of Beer, Seaton and West Bay, as well as numerous National Trust properties and gardens.

This delightful barn was constructed in cob using straw and earth from the farm. It is faced in stone from the previous cider barn and roofed with locally made, recycled tiles. Inside, the charming open-plan living accommodation is both rustic and quirky, with exposed beams, stone flooring and cottage furniture. In the compact kitchen area you will find an oven with ceramic hob, grill, oven microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. Once prepared, enjoy romantic meals for two at the extendable dining table nearby. The lounge area nearby features an exposed brick wall, bookshelf, TV/DVD and has large French doors leading outside. Also on the ground floor is a shower room with a WC. At the end of a long day, climb the bespoke handmade spiral staircase up to the first floor to reach the spacious super-king-size bedroom. This is a stunning room featuring ash flooring made from ash grown on the farm, a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and trusses and an en-suite bathroom with handheld shower. Recycled, local and eco friendly building materials were used extensively, with the upstairs floorboards grown on the farm.

Heading outside there is a private enclosed patio area complete with garden furniture for enjoying romantic meals or drinks outside. The surrounding land has been farmed organically for 53 years and there is a wealth of birds and wildlife to enjoy.

Beautiful barn. Seems a bit draconian to have a 5pm check in. I appreciate the barn needs to be cleaned but if the previous people leave at 10, seven hours seems excessive. A delightful and comfortable rural getaway annexe, crafted with natural materials in timeless style and very welcoming and spacious for two. It's a working organic farm, so don't expect manicured grounds but enjoy the natural setting and peace. The local pub also has great food and drinks at very reasonable prices.

We had a lovely stay in a cozy cottage. Great location with loads of wildlife on your doorstep. It was great to see the chickens roaming free - it was also lovely (for us) to see a family of foxes who were nosy enough to sit watching us through the window. This is a great place for a weekend or maybe a week away.
