You don’t always get the chance to stay in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. But that’s not the only thing that makes this lovely stone cottage special. Explore the dramatic ruins of the eponymous castle before recharging the batteries with some tasty local produce in one of the village’s pretty cafés or pubs. The villages of Langton Matravers, Worth Matravers and Kingston are also within walking distance, and very pretty walks they are too. You are also just a short drive from the spectacular coastal scenery of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and the sandy beach of Swanage.
The stone cottage is semi-detached and dates back over 200 years. It’s lovely and secluded, with incredible views of the surrounding countryside. The wonderfully inviting lounge has comfortable sofas and a TV/DVD. You will find a heated conservatory with a dining area against a backdrop of stunning countryside views. The fabulous fitted kitchen is complete with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer. On the ground floor is a large bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. Upstairs you can expect three pretty bedrooms, one double, one twin and one single, each with garden views.
This lovely stone cottage stands in the grounds of Afflington Manor, surrounded by beautiful farmland that’s home to alpacas, cows and sheep. The lakes in the grounds attract a great deal of bird life, so don’t be surprised if ducks and herons come to say hello. Double doors open from the conservatory directly into the pretty garden. There’s a large lawn and outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. Keen to explore? Open the gate and follow the footpath across a small stream to the acres of fields. Or get the blood pumping with a game of tennis on the AstroTurf court which is available to be booked by prior arrangement with owner. There’s private parking outside the cottage with space for two cars.
