Located on a farm near the village of Nigg, this lodge is ideally placed for those looking to explore what the Highlands has to offer. Numerous sandy beaches can be found nearby, including Portmahomack and Balintore, and there are plenty of coastal walks and trails in the area. There is also a small seasonal ferry that runs from Nigg to Cromarty, so if you are looking to cut your drive time to the Black Isle and Inverness then it is well worth taking advantage of. The nearby town of Tain is home to Glenmorangie Distillery, as well as a golf course, and further north lies the town of Dornoch with its various cafes, gift shops and must-visit beach.

The lodge is accessed via the glass entrance door to the front, which leads into an open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. The focal point of the room is definitely the cosy wood burner in the lounge, where there is also a Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker. Helpfully, binoculars have been provided for when you are keen to do some dolphin spotting from the comfort of the cabin. The dining area consists of a breakfast bar that seats four people and beautifully divides the lounge and kitchen sections. The kitchen itself is compact yet contains everything you could need during your stay, including an electric oven and hob, combi microwave oven, fridge/freezer, coffee machine and dishwasher. A welcome pack is provided for guests, and your dog will not miss out on getting a small gift too. The king-size bedroom has been tastefully furnished and decorated, with robes provided for guests. The shower room with WC and washbasin contains toiletries for guests, with nice touches to enhance your stay including an anti-mist mirror and automatic light.

Outside, the decked garden area contains garden furniture and a firepit, as well as a glorious bubbling hot tub that guests are sure to love. Guests are provided with non-glass items for use in the hot tub, so you can enjoy a flute of prosecco whilst you enjoy the spectacular sea views from the tub. Parking for up to two cars is available at the lodge. The cliff edge is some distance away from the property and is fenced off for extra peace of mind, but please ensure dogs are supervised at all times as there is also livestock on the farm all year round. This property has a private water supply.

Some places meet expectations. Castlecraig blows them out of the water. We spent a week in one of the clifftop cabins and Im still struggling to fully readjust to normal life. The location alone is almost unfair: perched right on the cliff above the Cromarty Firth, with unobstructed views across the Moray coast, the Black Isle, and on a clear daRead morey far down the Great Glen. Youre sitting on the terrace with your morning coffee, staring out at the water and then a dolphin leaps out of the waves directly below the cliff. Thats not a brochure promise, it actually happened, more than once. The cabin itself is genuinely well designed, nothing like the usual holiday rental aesthetic. Everything feels considered and well maintained, and the private hot tub in the evening with that view over the firth is simply unbeatable. After a long day of walking, nothing else is needed. Theres more to do in the surrounding area than a week can cover. The Pictish Trail along the coast through the Seaboard Villages to Portmahomack, Nigg Old Church right at the bottom of the farm road, the little car ferry across to Cromarty none of it feels put on for tourists. Its just genuinely good Scottish countryside doing its thing. Tain is 20 minutes away, Inverness about an hour. Les and the team are present without hovering. Questions get answered quickly, recommendations are actually useful rather than copy-pasted from a guidebook. Were already planning to come back, and stay longer. Hide

What wonderful accommodation in a beautiful location. It was a really high standard. We were lucky enough to have great weather, but it was such a lovely place to stay that we would have been more than happy just hanging out, staying cosy and looking at the view

The place was exceptional. Well heated there was no need to use the fire, the welcome pack was a brilliant touch and the views are why we booked. Already planning to return hopefully next year in the Premium lodge. We booked this for our 10th anniversary and was not disappointed.

We had an amazing week in Shadwick, The property was amazing, it was clean and fresh and had everything we needed. The views from the property, despite the time of year, were stunning. Brilliant location & very friendly, helpful hosts. Hot-tub was more a warm tub to begin with, but hosts checked settings & adjusted temp up as soon as I spoke with them - resolving the issue. EV Charging is available using an app, but after you realise the charger setup must have been done from the farmhouse - so looking at the map (in the app) youRead more have to zoom out to find them. Charger worked fine - only criticism is they are very expensive. Would very happily recommend this location. Hide
