Property code: OC-CC005

Located on a farm in the grounds of the 12th century Clattercote Priory and surrounded by horse paddocks, it’s the very definition of a Cotswold hideaway. Close to the village of Clattercote, the property is at the centre of the historic-cultural axis of Oxford, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. Banbury is about six miles away, and is a good place for shopping thanks to the Castle Quay Shopping Centre and night entertainment. Other top visitor attractions in the area include Warwick Castle, Sulgrave Manor, Heritage Motor Museum, the Malvern Hills and Blenheim Palace. There are plenty of footpaths in the vicinity, so it’s a great place for walkers to stay for a short break too.

On arrival at the cottage you will notice that it embraces an open-plan layout. The lounge area has ample comfortable seating, with a TV. You may be impressed to see that the original fireplace and huge chimney breast has been retained as well as the old bread oven. The kitchen area is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, a dishwasher, a washer/ dryer, and a microwave. Also on the ground floor there is a comfortable double bedroom. Close by, there is a bathroom that contains a shower over bath and WC. Upstairs there is a double bed on the mezzanine floor overlooking the living area below, please note that the stairs are steep. There is also a fold up bed available for an extra visitor (please book ahead). There is no internal connection between the cottages.

Outside, there is a terrace and the pleasant garden space accessed from the house via French doors. The garden and farm is great place for outgoing children, as they can explore the grounds and play with the farmer’s friendly dogs. The shared garden area is enclosed from the farm and contains outdoor furniture, and BBQs are provided too for evening cookouts. Guests are welcome to wander throughout the grounds – the owners ask that you take note that there is a pond near to the main house.

It was a nice stay in a very old and historic building. Wonderful enclosed garden with table, chairs and a grill at the terrace to enjoy the evening sun. I didnt mind the trains passing by in the night, but they give signals at level crossings nearby, starting in the morning until late evening. My mother in the bedroom ( opposite side of traiRead morens) did sleep well! Thank you Jo and Adrian for a wonderful week! Hide

We had a lovely stay at Baggins Barn. Plus points - lovely setting and the garden for the dogs was amazing. Accessible for the Cotswolds, Oxford and London only an hour on train from Banbury.. Minus points - the trains - I'm a light sleeper and the trains have to use their horn near the property due to a crossing. The bathroom location was not ideaRead morel when you needed the loo at night. Overall we would definitely stay again. Hide

Great property, the dogs loved the walled garden and Jo was an excellent host. We hardly noticed the trains and it certainly didn't interrupt any sleep. Will definitely look to stay here again.

Beautiful barn on a working farm but needs a few things improving and people need to know. The farm backs onto a really busy railway, running day and night - its very noisy. The pillows are uncomfortable thin and lumpy. The bed is very big but on the firm side. There is no where to play music, the TV had only basic channels, no Netflix etc. The sofRead moreas have seen better days, worn and uncomfortable. The farm dogs are free roaming and we found dog poop outside the door most mornings that we cleaned Hide

Lovely holiday cottage in perfect surroundings, especially if you have dogs. Safe walled lawn shared with adjacent cottage, walks on the doorstep. Cottage itself is well-equipped but we ate main meals out (what are holidays for?!). Living area might be cramped for four adults and bathroom arrangement might not suit everybody. Take the warning aboutRead more the stairs seriously. Friendly (but not intrusive) owners on hand. We were offered early check in when we phoned about access arrangements Hide

Lovely cottage. Very quiet. Often only noises were trains and birds with occasional horse hoof or dog bark! Compact but had everything one needs. Large secure garden great for dogs but is shared with neighbouring property. Lots of local walks. Lots of activities nearby. Would recommend.
