Appreciate the stunning rolling fields, the small Norman church and Rigsby Wood, all within walking distance. Stepping out of the cottage, you can access footpaths, bridleways and lanes to explore on foot or bike. A short drive away is the popular picturesque market town of Alford boasting shops, including a butchers’ shop and eateries, as well as a supermarket. Visit the Manor House garden and cafe or perhaps the local craft market. Skegness, Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe’s sandy beaches are all within easy reach, with amusements and seal sanctuary, great for family days out. A little further is the market town of Louth, with leisure centre, and Hubbards Hills for picnics and walks by the river. At Claythorpe Watermill and Wildfowl Gardens watch birds in their natural environment.

The cottage welcomes you into the country-style kitchen/diner, which is a fantastic space for any budding chef wanting to spoil their nearest and dearest to a special meal, equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine. Come together around the dining table to enjoy the resulting meals and long chats planning the next day’s activities. The family bathroom offers a shower over the bath and WC, so bring your bubble bath and enjoy a long soak in the tub. The lounge is warm and inviting offering comfy sofas to sink into after a day exploring the countryside, put your feet up by the TV or lose yourself in a good book. Heading upstairs to the first floor there is a double bedroom with sympathetic furniture and lovely rural views. There is also a twin bedroom which is bright and airy, a wonderful space to get a good night’s sleep.  Also on this floor is a separate WC.

Outside, the front lawn is fenced and gated. Enjoy dining alfresco on the nearby picnic bench and look out for the surrounding wildlife that you can spot. There are also a couple of small sheds that can be used to store bikes and off-road parking for two cars. Communal EV charging point charges apply payable to the owner. Guests are welcome to walk the margins of the fields.

This property can also be booked with neighbouring properties to sleep a maximum of 14 guests.

Depending on the harvest there may be a need to run a grain dryer fan which can be noisy, however this is a reasonable distance from the cottage and should have no impact on your stay.
  • To allow the farm crops to establish, occasionally there will be bird scarers in use, typically this will be in late autumn and the spring. The bird scares are not located near the cottage but maybe audible when walking, they do not go off at night. They are blue and orange an located on the edge of a field.
  • Guests are very welcome to walk both the public footpaths and on our field margins. Dog mess must be cleared up within the grass land where the cattle graze (to prevent Neospora canium). While on the rest of the farmland please clean up after your dog if on the footpaths but otherwise your dogs are welcome to enjoy the freedom of the countryside. The owner has a dog and there may be other dogs waking on the public footpaths
  • During early Spring the cattle will not be used to humans and it maybe advisable not to walk in the cattle fields with young children

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage which was very well equipped & had a good feel to it. The road the cottage was on was very quiet. Information provided before our stay was spot on & we followed one of the local walks. Easy access to the coast which took about 15 mins. Already thinking of booking again for later in the year

Lovely rural retreat, with only the sound of the owls and the rustle of trees. A quarter of an hour from several amazing dog-friendly beaches, nature walks like Gibraltar Point and visitor attractions including Gunby Hall and the market town of Louth. And the hosts are welcoming and friendly, too.

This is a lovely cottage which suited our needs perfectly and is spotlessly clean. It has the best view from the master bedroom of any cottage we've stayed in; a beautiful view across the Wolds. We really appreciated the proper secluded garden with real flowers and lawn, and the wildflowers left to grow nearby. It is very well located for trips to Read morelocal places of interest.
