Set in a tranquil corner of Dumfries and Galloway, this scenic lodge on working farm invites couples and small families to surround themselves with far-reaching rural and coastal views, and easy access to dramatic walking trails. The charming village of Glenluce (4 miles) is your best bet for picking up local produce nearby, as is the larger town of Stranraer (13 miles). While in Stranraer, you can also explore the peaceful Loch Ryan, uncover the boating lake at Agnew Park, or simply stroll along the marina. Soak up the local history with a visit to Lochnaw Castle (18.5 miles) or lace up your walking boots and stride out along the Southern Upland Way – using the historic village of Portpatrick (17.5 miles) as your starting point. 75 acres of landscaped gardens await at Castle Kennedy Gardens (11 miles), as do the botanical gardens at Glenwhan Gardens (8 miles).

Before stepping into this inviting lodge, take a moment to admire its scenic position surrounded by country views and glimpses of the sea. Use the ramp to enter and find that the property is spread across one level and flooded with natural light thanks to the many windows and glass patio doors. Be greeted by the open-plan living space that combines a cosy lounge with a well-appointed kitchen and dining area. Throw your muddy walking gear into the washing machine in the utility space before moving through to the lounge to unwind. Here, sink into the soft seating, flick on the flame-effect electric fire, find your favourite shows on the Smart TV, or simply connect the album of the moment to the Bluetooth speakers and relax. When stomachs rumble, find all you need in the kitchen to cook up a Scottish feast, which can be enjoyed inside at the table by the window or alfresco out on the decking. At the end of each day, retire to a choice of two restful bedrooms:  the master king-size room with an en-suite shower room or the twin room which has use of the family bathroom.

Swing open the glass doors from the living space and step out onto the enclosed decking area. Boasting views over the surrounding hills until they reach the sea, this is the best spot to gather for peaceful morning coffees and memorable evening meals and tipples. You’ll also benefit from ample off-street parking.
