Property code: OC-94567

Charming cottage, situated above the traditional village of Lower Chapel on the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Guests are encouraged to embrace their surroundings; the farm has a resident peacock and wildlife pond to admire which attracts many species. The property makes the ideal base for rambling and mountain biking – leave the car behind and head out into the hills. Horses can be hired locally (or bring your own on arrangement with owner) and you can ride straight from the cottage, through forest and open ground, without crossing a main road. Builth Wells is only 9 miles away and can be reached on foot or horse from the farm over beautiful rugged countryside if you’re feeling adventurous. Just 5 miles south is the bustling market town of Brecon, well known for its famous jazz festival, independent shops and cafes, history, military connections and, of course, the magnificent Cathedral. Llangorse Lake (14 miles) caters for paddleboarding and kayaking. Travel underground at the National Showcaves Centre or, step back in time with a day at the Big Pit Museum Blaenavon (30 miles). For more sedate days out, there are some lovely market towns with farmers markets such as Hay-on-Wye, Brecon and Crickhowell is worth a visit too and all within 20 miles.

The cottage is situated next door to the main farmhouse, enjoying an open-front aspect with views across to the wildlife pond and countryside. Step through the front door into the open-plan ground floor, beautifully finished with exposed stonework and beams. The space has been cleverly divided offering guests the perfect place for relaxing, dining and cooking. Curl up on the sofa and arm chairs in front of the wood burner (logs included) to enjoy a movie on the Smart TV; whip up culinary delights in the contemporary kitchen; and sit down for meals after a day in the hills around the circular table, suitable for four. A handy utility room has a washing machine along with a cloakroom with WC. Upstairs, guests have the choice of two generously sized bedrooms, both enjoying a front aspect with stunning views across the countryside: a double room with en-suite shower and WC, and a king-size zip and link (that can be made into 2’6” twin beds on request when booking).
Outside, to the rear, is an enclosed garden with table and chairs; the front patio area opens onto the grounds of the farm, with fantastic views over to the wildlife pond and countryside. There is a store to the side of the cottage which is suitable for bike storage, along with a clothes rack.
  • 2 bedroom – 1 double and 1 king-size zip-and-link (that can be made into 2’6” twin beds at the stage of booking)

Lovely cottage, newly refurbished, cosy and warm. We had a fantastic stay, and really enjoyed the log burner in the living room. Location for Brecon Beacons attractions also good.

If I write a review saying how marvellous everything was at the cottage it would be fully booked all year and then we wouldn't be able to return...so I will keep it a secret. We would love to stay again.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Very cosy with log burner, heated the whole house. We enjoyed being able to walk from the cottage through woods and fields. Mr Mills the owner was very friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay at the cottage and would stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at Coygen Farm. We received a warm welcome from David and Gwen, his adorable sheepdog! We even had the privilege of watching Gwen in action rounding up the sheep which made our stay especially memorable. A beautifully tranquil spot surrounded by stunning countryside. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and had all the eqRead moreuipment we needed. Great recommendation for horse-riding too. Thank you for a lovely stay! Hide

This was a lovely place to stay, very serene with beautiful areas to walk and sit by the pond. The children loved making friends with the peacock and a friendly farm dog. Thanks bunches and God bless you.

We loved the cottage and the location and were very comfortable. It was very rural and the downstairs was a perfect shared space for 4 adults. The bedrooms are small but adequate and good, modern bathrooms. Excellent for 2 couples. Brecon is a wonderful base and the countryside is beautiful.

Fabulous cottage, well equipped, one of the best weve stayed in. Would definitely like to visit again, as there are plenty of places still to visit and walks to explore. David the owner was very friendly and helpful and should be congratulated on a first class renovation. Loved it!

Lovely cottage, really nicely decorated and well equipped. A very tranquil and peaceful location, with friendly and helpful owner. We had a great autumn half term with hillwalking, horse riding and waterfalls. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, recently built, high standard cottage! Wonderful scenery around us. We loved our stay here. The host was very friendly and helpful. We were very touched by his kindness in putting a piece of wood by one of the gates to ensure that our little dog was completely safe and secure when outside. Would love to return.

We spent a lovely few days in this beautiful cottage. It is spotlessly clean and the fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard. The owner is friendly, welcoming and approachable. The location is perfect with walks straight from the door and it is only a short drive to many places of interest. We would not hesitate to stay again.
