Enjoying an elevated position with far-reaching views across to Pen y Fan, this detached barn is great for families wanting to get back to nature and enjoy the outdoors. It is situated just 1 mile from the village of Llangorse, which sits deep within the national park, and is well-served with a local shop and village inn. The area is perfect for outdoor pursuits; you can hire a rowing boat, kayak, Canadian canoe, pedalo, stand-up paddleboard or fishing boat on Llangorse Lake, the largest natural lake in South Wales. There is a wealth of walking, whether you choose to follow the rivers and canals or enjoy the hilltop views. There are activity centres that offer kayaking, climbing, mountain biking and horse riding throughout the area. For the more easy-going guests, there are some lovely market towns such as Hay-on-Wye, known as the town of books, Crickhowell and Brecon, all within 11 miles.

The barn is situated within a small cluster of converted farm barns, surrounded by working farmland. Access is to the side of the barn into a spacious hallway, with a cloakroom and WC, where you can take a seat on the wooden pew to remove muddy boots before hanging up your coats. The hallway provides access to the cosy living space which is perfect for a relaxing evening in front of the wood burner and Smart TV. This room enjoys a dual aspect, enabling plenty of natural light and stunning views. For dining, there is a generously sized table and chairs to seat six if required. The kitchen/breakfast room is accessible from the hallway. A well-equipped kitchen offers everything you would need during your stay, and features a farmhouse table and chairs for four. For family fun, a games room is situated on the first floor which can be accessed via the master bedroom or from the side of the car port – it’s a great space for the competitive amongst you with a full-size pool table, table football, an electric keyboard for budding musicians and a PlayStation which also offers access to TV applications, the sofas are perfect for gaming. Guests have the choice of two bedrooms: a master double room with an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and a twin zip-and-link room that can be made into a super-king-size on request when booking, with an en-suite shower room with WC.

Outside, guests can relax on the enclosed raised terrace to the front of the barn, where there is a bistro table and chairs and a charcoal BBQ. The terrace enjoys wide-ranging views of Llangorse Lake and the Brecon Beacons. There is private parking for two cars within an open-fronted barn, along with a secure storage area for bikes.

We had a lovely peaceful stay here. Will recommend the 4 waterfall walk if you can handle lots of steep steps. We also had a lovely meal at the pub on the lake up the road. We had a a six seater day boat on one of the days. Such a lovely relaxing trip up the loch and back.
