Set on a farm with 50 acres of land, home to grazing animals this property is only a few miles away from many highlights in Shakespeare’s County of Warwickshire. Situated 1 mile outside the village of Stretton-on-Dunsmore, you will find a village pub and store. Warwick is 10 miles away, where visits to Warwick Castle and Hill Close Gardens are highly recommended. Leamington Spa is just as close with a fantastic range of shops, cafes and eateries. Spend the day discovering the birthplace of Shakespeare himself, Stratford-upon-Avon (18 miles), also home to the Royal Shakespeare Company along with Anne Hathaway’s cottage and Holy Trinity Church. For those who love the outdoors, Draycote Water Country Park and Ryton Pools Country Park are within a few miles drive. The National Agricultural Centre at Stoneleigh, home to the royal show and many other countryside events is 5 miles away.

After driving down the private farm road towards the barn, park up to the side of the property in one of the allocated spaces. Head on around to the entrance which is via the door on the side of the barn. The property has a ramp to the front door and the doors inside are extra wide, suitable for wheelchair access. As you enter this cosy property you arrive in the open-plan lounge and dining area. The lounge has an L-shaped sofa, which is perfect to relax on after a busy day out exploring, plus a TV so you can catch your favourite show or movie and unwind for the evening. The small kitchen area, just off from the lounge in the hallway, has everything you need to lovingly prepare a light snack or dinner, with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge. Once your meal is ready, serve up at the dining table in the lounge. Whether you decide to relax in front of the TV or have a bite to eat, the fabulous duck pond provides a fitting backdrop, seen in all its glory through the French doors. Down the hallway are the bedrooms, one double bedroom, which has plenty of storage space for your belongings along with a TV, and a second bedroom with twin beds. Start your day off with a refreshing shower in the wet room with WC which is located off from the lounge.
There is an outside utility area which houses a freezer, washing machine and a tumble dryer for guests to use. The outdoor seating area is accessed via the French doors or the side door. It is fully enclosed, with a large patio area with garden furniture providing the most peaceful of places to enjoy some down time - perhaps with a drink in hand or even some al fresco dining while you watch the sun glisten on the pond and the many fish swim to the surface. Lovely location. All immaculately clean, comfortable and well equipped. The only issue for us was the lack of internet and weak mobile signal although the owners did their best to remedy the problem.

Duck Pond Barn is an excellent farm stay cottage Staying during lambing time adds to the experience, Owner was a very warm, helpful host but non-interferring. Close enough to Coventry and Birmingham to make it an obvious place to stay in lieu of a hotel. All the facilities are there for a very enjoyable stay. Would recommend it whole heartedly. 10 oRead moreut of 10. Hide
