A true escape to the country, accessed via a private drive through a working farm and surrounded by open farmland. The cottages sit within a lightly wooded oasis of over an acre, providing a tranquil rural setting, rich in wildlife, on the western edge of the Purbeck Downs in Dorset. This rural spot offers the best of both worlds as you can enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding fields, Macmillan Way and cycle paths or easily head off to explore the local area by car. 2 miles away is the thriving village of Maiden Newton, where you’ll find a good range of local amenities or travel 7 miles south to the ever-popular Jurassic Coast. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to attractions, with popular destinations including Dorchester, Abbotsbury with its Swannery and gardens, Forde Abbey, Lyme Regis and Durdle Door. Plus Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Fleet Air Arm Museum are all within easy reach. A visit to Weymouth and Portland is a must, where you can explore the rich maritime history, browse the shops or spend time on the award winning Blue Flag beach.

Part of a complex of 4 adjoining properties, this 18th century flint and stone barn conversion sits at the end of a long drive, unmade in places and surrounded by rolling countryside. The private entrance door opens into a welcoming hallway with space for boots and coats. Head along the hallway, passing the first of the two bathrooms on your left before coming to a fantastic open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This sociable room has been cleverly divided with the kitchen area to the left and space to dine in comfort just opposite. Next is the lounge space with comfortable furniture arranged around the striking fireplace with a wood burner and a Smart TV so you can enjoy your favourite shows. Heading upstairs, you'll find the four bedrooms, a super-king-size zip-and-link that can be made up as 3' twin beds if required, a double and 2 single bedrooms; completing this floor is the second bathroom.

French doors lead from beside the dining area to a private patio with furniture and a charcoal BBQ, ideal for al fresco meals. There is an open lawn, screened in part with hedging, which is the perfect place to sit back and relax whilst you listen to birdsong. A shared games room sits alongside the property, furnished with a 3 in one table (pool/table tennis and air hockey) plus a dart board. A lovely cottage in an amazing postion, surrounded by fields. The cottage had everything we needed. The large garden and games room had everything our grandchildren needed. The owner, Andrea, contacted me before the holiday and answered any queries quickly. We only stayed 3 nights and we wished we could have stayed longer

We turned up at a lovely remote quiet countryside cottage. There was plenty of parking and when we opened the door to our holiday cottage we were greeted by two packets of biscuits, two packets of scones, two pots of cream, a jar of strawberry jam, a bottle of lemonade and a bottle of milk. We then looked out the window to see a massive garden withRead more comfortable, clean garden furniture. We had a nice holiday at Fox cottage. The property is well equipped. The shared garden is also nice and private with plenty of space. (We played frisbee there). A comfortable and clean house in a charming location, secluded and with beautiful rolling hills just a short stroll away. The hosts when above and beyond to make us feel welcome, leaving out toys for the children on arrival and making sure the kitchen has the essentials. We hope to visit again in future.
