A welcoming holiday hideaway on an attractive Lincolnshire farm, this single-storey retreat is ideal for couples or a small family. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom abode is one of two delightful properties on the landscaped, riverside site, where a miniature railway sometimes operates. Set near Scopwick, 13 miles from Lincoln, it is 15 miles from the fringes of the magnificent Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape, with its myriad of footpaths and trails to follow. Head into historic Lincoln to visit the impressive cathedral and castle, to potter in independent shops, and dine in an array of stylish restaurants. Woodhall Spa, 8 miles away, with its Edwardian elegance, is also well worth a visit. Take time out to spend an afternoon at the National Trust’s Tattershall Castle, 9.5 miles away, where you can tour the striking, 15th-century tower, which has a double moat, and wander through the beautiful parkland grounds.
Enter the cottage to find cosy accommodation with wonderfully winter-warming underfloor heating. Head into the compact kitchen to discover it has been designed to ensure you have everything you need for easy self-catering right at your fingertips. There is also a breakfast bar here, where you can perch with a cup of tea. Carry the dishes you whip up in here through to the lounge/diner to enjoy them together at the circular, wooden table. Afterwards, sink back into the comfortable sofa to watch TV or flick through a coffee table book. Watch a DVD instead or simply gaze out over the beautiful grounds. As the evening draws to a close, make your way through to one of your two double bedrooms to indulge in a great night’s sleep. The largest of these has a high, vaulted and beamed ceiling, making it especially airy. The family bathroom encompasses a bath and a shower, giving you the choice of a long, bubbly soak in the tub or a refreshing rinse.
Carry your morning coffee out to the bench beside the cottage to sip as the sun rises over rural Lincolnshire. Head out for a walk through the shared 11-acre grounds, taking time to meander through the wooded areas, keeping your eyes open for wildlife. Guests have use of private parking for two cars, plus a shared freezer and tumble dryer in an adjacent garage.
