We enjoyed a wonderful week at Rob's cottage, set in very beautiful and tranquil scenery. The cottage is very well-equipped and the beds were particularly comfortable (one of which was a Superking, which was a very pleasant surprise), and they were dressed with high quality bed-linen and towels, both from The White Company. The addition of the loveRead morely French hand soap in the kitchen was much appreciated, in addition to the thoughtful and generous offer of the welcome pack of goods, which included cookies, milk, butter, wine, and eggs; the latter having been laid by some of the hens on the farm. We loved observing the activities of all the farm animals, from the hilarious antics of the three Guinea fowl, who we found very amusing. The various hens and cockerels were also very entertaining, and to observe the two mother hens tending to their six delightful chicks each was a very heartwarming experience. It was wonderful to wake to the gentle sounds of the sheep, and also to be visited by the 2 friendly cats and also the dogs, Thisbe, and Lila. who were delightful. We were very fortunate to have amazing weather during our stay, so it wasn't necessary to light the woodburning stove, but logs were kindly provided if needed. The village of Leyburn was very close by for grocery shopping. Aysgarth Falls was a beautiful place to visit and it was particularly refreshing as the air temperature reached 31 degrees on the day of our trip! Harmby waterfall, which is very close by, was also a lovely place to walk to. A trip to picturesque Kettlewell, which was just 45 minutes away, took our breath away (and that was before we started climbing!). We would love to return to explore the incredibly beautiful North Yorkshire scenery further and hope to do so before long. Hide
