This thoughtfully designed holiday home for six guests is perfect for families or groups of friends who love living close to nature but not the effort of setting up camp. The glamping lodge is on a working farm in the beautiful Brecon Beacons close to the village of Talybont-on-Usk (0.50 miles). Lovely walks abound, from a quiet stroll along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal towpath, which runs through Talybont, to an epic hike across the Beacons. The village store stocks guides to the different routes and you can hire bikes from a local shop. Another relaxing way to explore these beautiful surroundings is to take a trip along the canal. Or you can hire a boat and potter down the waterway for a short or a long cruise. For family fun, head to the Cantref Adventure Farm (4 miles), where children can pet and feed small animals and go for horse rides. Back at your holiday home, take a tour of the farm with the owner and learn about the conservation initiatives on his land and in the Talybont community. The Brecon Beacons is a designated International Dark Sky Reserve, so, on cloudless nights, switch off the lights and look up. You may see stars shining more brightly.
The lodge is spacious, with wooden floors and a lovely country-style interior throughout. A light and airy open-plan living area features a large corner sofa and wooden armchair in front of a wood-burning stove, with a colourful rug underneath the wooden dining table and six chairs. The kitchen section includes a traditional dresser and wooden units with a gas hob, microwave, fridge with an ice box, a toaster and kettle. Two of the three bedrooms, a double and a twin, are tastefully furnished, with pretty metal bedsteads and soft blankets. The third bedroom, which sleeps two guests, is a quirky indoor double cabin reached by a short ladder.
Outside, a “Pitch Pod” is fitted with a shower, basin and flushing toilet, and there is a splendid fire pit with a barbecue grill for cooking. A private, wood-fired hot tub tucked away beside the lodge adds a touch of luxury.
