This stylish holiday cottage is perfect for a pair of couples or several friends holidaying together. Set on a quiet private drive amidst the tranquil countryside of Mid Wales, it is a true rural retreat. Yet it is still only 2 miles from the attractive market town of Builth Wells. This riverside town has much to offer with a great range of shops, cafes, restaurants and cosy pubs. The whole area is fantastic for walking and the beautiful Wye River Walk begins on your doorstep. The river also offers opportunities for fishing and canoeing and there are local options for horse riding and golf too. For a stunning drive and more lovely walks, head to the Elan Valley 16 miles away. From there, you could opt to take the wild Mountain Road to Devil’s Bridge and on to the coastal University town of Aberystwyth.

The holiday cottage sits on the banks of the Wye River and is surrounded by countryside. This means that the views from both inside and outside are stunning. The accommodation is all on one level with beautiful decor and a high-end finish throughout. The ample living room has picture windows looking out either side of a feature fireplace that houses a cosy wood burner. Exposed brickwork and wooden beams give the room a cottage-like feel, but it is both spacious and homely. The kitchen/diner has vaulted ceilings, slate flooring and another wood burner. This is an attractive and sociable space for cooking and eating together. Both inviting bedrooms feature king-size beds, Smart TVs and en-suite shower rooms. In addition, there is a utility room and a drying cupboard for your outdoor gear.

Outside is a small well-kept garden with outdoor furniture equipped for both dining and lounging. The cottage comes with a full-size Weber charcoal BBQ and a fire pit for outdoor cooking and eating, or simply for stoking up as you watch the stars come out. This is a very peaceful spot and there are lovely views of the river and the forested slopes beyond.

We were very lucky to be staying at Rocks Cottage for the gloriously warm, sunny spell in March so enjoyed sitting outside on the very comfortable outdoor furniture listening to the river and walking straight from the door. This cottage is truly superb. It is in a lovely wooded location next to the River Wye with fields to the front and beautiful views of the hills. The fishing themed dcor and furnishings are very tasteful. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms have with excellent showers. The underfloor heating made it very cosy and there was a plentiful supply of logsRead more for the two wood burners. The spacious kitchen was equipped with all that one might need. We had a most enjoyable few days here. Due to incessant rain on the first day we were happy to spend the day resting in the delightful sitting room. The following day we went to the Elan valley, Cymystwyth and Devils Bridge. On our last day we went to the fabulous gardens at Aberglaslyn near Llandeilo where we wandered in warm sunshine along paths surrounded by flowers and blossom. Driving back via Brecon there were views on the snow covered Beacons Hide

Rock Cottage is absolutely gorgeous, as is its location. All the rooms are spacious and very well presented - we loved the country kitchen and the fishing lodge themed lounge. The terrace and firepit were a big hit with us too! The addition of an EV charger is a nice touch (it's a 7KW untethered - ie supply your own cable - AC type 2) especially asRead more we did not find any superfast DC chargers in the immediate area. We can thoroughly endorse the recommendation of the Felin Fach Griffin (not to be confused with the Griffin Inn) as the finest place to eat in the area. We also enjoyed a lunch at the Lake Country House Hotel in Llangammarch and - for a smaller budget - we had two excellent meals in Feast at the top end of Builth Wells High Street. Hide

The cottage is a little bit outside Builth Wells and is in a really nice location with a lovely river right by the cottage. Every day you can watch some birds and a lot of sheep. The interior is well thought out and cosy. The terrace is large, but maybe there could be some sun loungers. You should know that there is a footpath next to the house andRead more that you can hear the river the whole day. We love that sound and it masks the road noise which is behind the river. Hide
