A quintessential stone and dark wood lodge that sleeps seven in spacious luxury near the banks of the River Wye one mile up a private drive on the Rhosferig Estate. There’s plenty to do right here including red kite spotting, but to stock up or simply venture further afield, the attractive market town of Builth Wells is 2 miles away – it even has a cinema! The Wye Valley Walk is right on your doorstep and the Elan Valley Lakes are also worth a visit. While you can’t fish from the lodge itself, day tickets may be available to nearby private beats if angling’s your thing.

The apparently simple rustic exterior of this lodge belies its seriously impressive interiors – it’s a family-friendly holiday property sleeping seven on a private estate in rural isolation. The downstairs living room has a glorious, vaulted wood ceiling with beams, impressive stone inglenook which now houses a wood burner, and offers plentiful comfortable seating, masses of space and hunting paraphernalia. From here, double doors lead to the window-lined snooker room, with the same stunning River Wye views as the lounge. If you need to work or check in (or just have a read and a nap!), there’s a charming study downstairs or you could set up in the expansive kitchen/diner with its cosy Aga, sleek modern kitchen for easy cooking with a table at one end. One king-size and one twin bedroom are also to be found down here; both have wonderfully calming, neutral decor and share a shower room with WC. Upstairs is another single bedroom with a quaint sloping ceiling plus the standout master king-size bedroom complete with doors opening onto its very own balcony space and high wood-lined ceilings and painted beams. You can lie in bed and gaze out over the river and countryside beyond. Holiday heaven!

The lodge is surround by a paved veranda, with furniture for both relaxing and dining just outside the front. There’s also a well-tended, enclosed garden largely set to grass with a built-in charcoal BBQ.

Rhosferig lodge is a lovely property. Very comfortable & warm. Kitchen well equipped & having a seperate utility is very useful especially when you have a dog. The outside tap was good to wash the dogs feet after a walk. We appreciated the large fridge/freezer as we brought a lot of food with us. The lodge is very private but only a short walk doRead morewn the drive to join Wye Valley walk. I would like to mention how well kept the drive is all the way to the lodge. Some driveways are difficult to negotiate especially in the countryside, the maintenance on this driveway is excellent & the grass verges. We had a lovely week & we look forward to coming back Hide

Idyllic location. So great to have a downstairs bathroom and bedrooms. Great for us "oldies" who are not keen on stairs and steps. Other guests cannot fail to have a peaceful and glorious holiday.

Amazing views and wonderful to have a covered verandah to appreciate it from - even in torrential rain. Comfortable and very well-equipped with more than enough dishes and utensils for any event. The beds were also very comfy.

The location of the property is perfect stunning views and lovely walks on the door step. Lots of wildlife to see . Plenty of room for 6 adults,1 child & an infant. An ideal place where the family could get together and relax. There was a brick built barbecue outside but unfortunately we were unable to use it due to the poor weather.

The saving grace for this Lodge is the location. Which is worth 5 star alone. Very poor condition of some sofas and chairs needed to be replaced immediately. Consecutive visitors made the same comments about beds being uncomfortable and furniture in poor condition - reply back was "it is being addressed". Comfort grade would struggle (if assessed Read moretoday) to reach 3 stars. Injuries could occur when sitting on some of chairs by going through. Hide

A fantastic, spacious yet cosy lodge, perfectly quiet (apart from the owls and the river) far away from every day life but only 10 minutes drive from the town, this place is highly recommended for a "get away from it all" stay.

One of the loveliest places weve stayed. The pictures definitely dont do it justice. There is nothing to see or hear apart from countryside, animals and birds. Ideal place to completely switch off.
