Property code: OC-489787

For a memorable holiday with friends and family, stay at this detached stone property on the scenic Holy Island in Northumberland. This section of land, also called Landisfarne, is cut off from the mainland during high tide, so you can enjoy a feeling of remoteness during your stay. There’s plenty to do on the island itself, whether it’s visiting the peaceful Lindisfarne Priory (0.5 miles) or the majestic Lindisfarne Castle (1 mile). You’ll also find a couple of pubs, independent shops and plenty of wildlife to discover. When the tide is out you can drive over the 3-mile-long causeway and explore the wider area, perhaps heading to Cheswick Sands (9.5 miles) or Berwick-upon-Tweed (13.5 miles).

You’ll enter the property into a stone-flagged passageway leading to a utility room where you can leave your shoes and coats. The attractive farmhouse-style kitchen has exposed beams, a Belfast sink and painted units with wooden worktops, plus an Aga for preparing delicious meals in the high-quality Le Creuset pans provided. At the table in the middle of the room, you can enjoy leisurely breakfasts and tasty coffee made from the L`Or machine. The utility room serves as a second kitchen, with additional appliances such as the dishwasher. The first lounge has plenty of comfortable seating plus a TV and DVD player, and an open fire for keeping warm in chilly weather. You can also kick back in the second lounge where there’s an L-shaped sofa. A third relaxation area is provided in the conservatory, a lovely and airy space where you’ll find a telescope for observing the dark sky as well as plenty of comfortable seating. There’s a gorgeous downstairs bathroom where you can choose between a relaxing bath and a refreshing shower. Head upstairs and you’ll find the three spacious bedrooms, starting with a king-size room with dual aspect windows, a luxurious chaise longue and a feature fireplace. This room has an en-suite shower room. The second room is a super-king-size with zip-and-link beds that can be made into twins on request at the time of booking. In the third bedroom, you’ll find a king-size bed, a feature fireplace and wooden floorboards. All duvets and pillows are non-allergenic. There’s also an additional shower room.

Outside the property, there’s a large, enclosed garden comprising a decked area and a large lawn. It is south-west-facing and has a table and chairs plus a BBQ, so you can eat outside in fine weather.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 king-size, 1 super-king-size with zip-and-link beds (that can be made into twins on request at the time of booking)
  • 3 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with shower and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC, 1 shower room with WC
  • 2-oven Aga, Aga toast clamp, L'Or coffee machine available (bring your favourite L'Or compatible pods), fridge

  • Utility room with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer

  • Highchair and 2 stairgates available
  • Open fire (1 night’s worth of logs supplied between October and March)

Its our second stay at St. Coombs farmhouse having rebooked before we even left last year. This lovely home holds such a beautiful position on Holy Isle and has a homely and welcoming spaciousness to it. There are many rooms to relax in but the sunroom is a firm favorite. You can sit in there for hours watching all the birds flying around, its likRead moree a bird airport! The bedrooms are a delight in both size and comfort and the kitchen is just one of those spaces that invites conversation and beautiful shared meals together. There are alot of cockerels around, at least16 at a quick count so one does get sung to at the dawn of day and more! It becomes part of the sounds of the Isle. Hide

The cottage is lovely. Spacious. Warm. But it charges a premium and so I would expect premium. It was not clean, thick cobwebs in every room, really needs a team in to do a deep clean - we left it cleaner than when we found it. The welcome basket is substandard. There were no dog welcome packs despite me having paid a considerable amount extra foRead morer the dogs and this was listed as something I would get. There was no wood for the fire, nor kindling which was promised. Kitchen equipment varies from really good to so cheap it's unusable. Kitchen is badly organised and it's very hard to find things. The worst part is the service you get when you need help. It tells you first call the caretaker and then the owner and then holiday cottages company. Please, please do not bother with the first two. The owner doesn't respond at all, the 'caretaker' just tells the owner (who doesn't respond), tells you that she 'just does the cleans and it's nothing to do with me'. Huge waste of time. Holiday cottages as a company very helpful and couldn't fault them but by the time I'd escalated to them I'd already wasted lots of holiday time on the phone trying to sort things. I ended up spending time with buckets catching leaks from the roof, sorting my own wood and being told to fix the broken washing machine myself. Really, really horrible experience. Hide

A perfect stay for Christmas, including a lovely tree in the living room! The cottage is beautiful, spacious, warm and welcoming. The beds comfy, bath huge, and kitchen very well equipped. We managed to cook our full Christmas dinner on/in the Aga, and it was great to have full instructions plus cook books! The location is perfect for a peacefuRead morel relaxing getaway. The farm next door added to the atmosphere with the bird noises! It was lovely to see chickens in the garden! The telescope in the conservatory was great and we managed some fabulous views of the moon on one of the nights (too cloudy on the others). The island is great - all establishments very welcoming and so many amazing walks and views. We would love to return to St Coombs again. Hide

This is our third time at St Coombs and we love it. The house is well equipped, comfortable and warm. The location is very good with easy access to the village and to the walks. Lindesfarne is magical if you like peace and select a week when the tides mean the causeway is closed in the afternoon/evening. The housekeeper tries really to accomodaRead morete the tides and avoid you having to wait is she can. I am sure we will be back again. Hide

We booked the farmhouse on Holy Island for the location and facilities it offered. Its location doesn't disappoint. We loved the walks, from the door, around the Island and managed to fill 4 days without leaving the Island. Overall facilities are very good with plenty of space for at least four people and a dog.

An amazing place to stay. Surely the best accommodation on the island (we have been 6 times and stayed all over). So clean and comfortable. Im already plotting my return.

Lovely cottage and fantastic location. We saw deer, foxes, sparrow hawk and numerous other wildlife all from the garden. Absolutely brilliant spot. This is a fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. Lots to keep families entertained on the Island and really no need to touch the car once you are here. Multiple beaches within ten minute walk. Lots of pubs/coffee shop etc.. in walking distance. Really clean and well equipped place. We have already booked again for next year!

On arrival we were disappointed by the overall basic standard of the property. It had received the most minimal of cleans. The freezer was iced up and needed defrosting. There were dirty plates in the plate holder over the sink. The dishwasher was still going from the previous occupants. The kitchen had received the most basic clean but nothing hRead moread been moved from off the surface so other people's debris was still there. The kitchen was the focal point of the house and we enjoyed the aga. The fire had not been cleaned out in the lounge. The lounge furniture was very old and worn. The main sofa being too uncomfortable to use for long. The conservatory was a nice room but again you could see the dirt and dust underneath the old furniture and the rug was threadbare. The weather was too cold when we stayed to enjoy this room which would have been a nice space in warmer weather. The bedrooms were better and the main beds were comfortable. However there was thick dust on the chest of drawers in the main bedroom. The bathrooms were very old in poor condition and not cleaned properly. All surfaces were dirty or dusty. The floors were dirty and unacceptable. The showers were extremely noisy and worked intermittently. No one enjoyed having a shower in any of the bathrooms. The garden is a nice space but we found 5 lots of other guests dog poo! The farmhouse is in a nice position close to everything this lovely island has to offer and could be a good place to stay with some maintenance and TLC. We stayed in February in very cold weather so spent more time than usual in the house. The house was warm which was appreciated. Hide

Gorgeous place. 5 sofas over 2 rooms means you can be soooo relaxed. The conservatory was where we hung out all the time. So private with views over the garden and so bright and warm and comfortable. We also loved hanging out around the kitchen table putting the world to rights. A really special place and gorgeous to start walks right outside the fRead moreront door, although the village is maybe 2-3 minutes walk. A heavenly spot and the owners were very kind helping with our questions. Thank you for letting us stay in this little piece if heaven. Hide
