Property code: OC-CYSGUL

A fantastic two-bedroom dog friendly barn conversion on a working farm, this property offers a real slice of country life. Its quirky decor and lovely outside space will suit families looking for peaceful, unique accommodation on the Llyn Peninsula. The cottage is just 2 miles from Pwllheli, the unofficial capital of the peninsula. This coastal town has all the amenities you could wish for, plus beautiful beaches, a bustling harbour and activities for the whole family. Also nearby is Abersoch (9 miles), one of the area's most famous destinations and a must-visit spot for a traditional Welsh seaside holiday.

This former grain store has been lovingly and thoughtfully converted into a wonderful holiday cottage filled with character. The barn's original features, such as the low beamed ceiling and slate floors, sit side by side with creative decorations made from locally sourced materials, reclaimed and recycled furniture, and a rich colour palette. The overall effect is a unique, creative and welcoming space. The heart of the house is the lounge; a lovely room with a cosy asymmetric leather sofa, tree stump coffee table and a wood burner. One corner of the lounge is given over to a dining area with a rustic wooden table and a painted church pew for seating. Off the dining area is the kitchen, a fully equipped, bespoke space beautifully finished with concrete worktops, unique cabinets and a statement Aga. Steps lead through a woven curtain to a handy utility room containing laundry facilities, a freezer and plenty of storage for outdoor coats and shoes. A wet room-style bathroom completes the ground floor and contains a fantastic dual-head rainfall shower and quirky decorative touches. Stairs lead from the lounge to the first floor where the two bedrooms are furnished with comfortable beds, a cool colour scheme and a blend of antique and upcycled furniture. The twin bedroom features a skylight and a window with farm and country views, while the double bedroom’s French doors lead to an external staircase.

Outside this property is a lovely, enclosed area with plenty of space to spread out, and beautiful, far-reaching countryside views. Enjoy the lawn, relax in large outdoor beanbags on the raised decking, or fire up the BBQ and dine at the outdoor seating area on the slate patio. You’ll also find two large dog kennels outside in a secure enclosure which are available for use if you wish.

A great stay in this beautiful property, full of treasures and reclaimed materials. The owners have honestly thought of everything. The property is easy to use and offered everything I needed for my stay. I didnt eat out, so I made good use of the kitchen (Aga) and wanted for nothing. There was a lovely welcome gift of local foods, and the owners wRead moreere friendly and responsive. I came with two lively spaniels and felt completely safe within the enclosed gardens and fully gated parking area. The garden gets the sun throughout the day, with plenty of places to sit. Although the property is off the beaten track, it is only 1015 minutes from the beaches, Abersoch, and Pwllheli. The best part was being able to leave the hustle and bustle of the crowded roads and pavements and retreat to countryside views and total peace. I will be booking again. Hide

We had a wonderful stay here; the hosts were amazing. When we arrived very late at night, they sorted us out and got us there safely. The cottage is really thoughtfully decorated, well equipped and we were so well looked after. Our two kids (10 and 11) absolutely LOVED being free-range on the farm and enjoying the landscape too. 10 out of 10 would Read morereommend! Hide

Ok, so Im sure therell be some haters here but this is our honest review of Cysgu Llynog. We booked here for a 5 night break with our 2 little dogs as we love the area and were sold on all the 5* reviews. First thing, this is a 2 star at best, its ok but beware if youre anything over 5ft 6 you may be bumping your head a lot during your break Read moreas the ceilings are crazy low. Second thing, its rural (tick) but is hardly a secluded getaway, this is basically a self build extension to a working farm house that is also under construction. Thirdly - if you are looking at a break in a dog friendly retreat, be prepared to be told youre expected to leave your dogs in an outside jail if you go out without themunlike any other dog friendly place weve stayed at in 15 years. I felt our dogs were more tolerated than welcome Fourth thing - if you (like us) are animal lovers avoid this place. We spent almost 700 for 5 nights, but left after 1 night as we couldnt bear to see the owners totally depressed Alaskan malamute in a cage all day and night, in our eye shot, he/she didnt even bark, just sat there totally sad. So - we left, forget the money, thats too much for us. Poor thing. Anyway thats our review, god knows how its got so many 5*s! If you love animals stay away staying here will break your heart!!! What a gorgeous, cosy, quirky cottage! We loved staying here for the individual style and so much beautiful craftsmanship around, it really had a character of it's own.
