The romantic retreat is set on a working farm at the foothills of the North Pennines. It’s the perfect base for couples who love getting out and about in nature, with a fantastic choice of walks directly from the property. The North Pennines boast a remote and unspoilt landscape, and you can join trails (including the long-distance Pennine Way) to weave your way across open heather moors, up and down dales, through ancient woodland, and past spectacular rivers and waterfalls. The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. Head to the Roman fort at Birdoswald (8 miles) to witness the longest remaining stretch of the Wall and enjoy a range of different walks in and around the area. The bustling market town of Brampton is just 2 miles away and is a great place to pick up local produce for your supper. Further afield, the vibrant city of Carlisle (10 miles) makes a great day out, with its rich heritage, independent shops, and excellence range of eateries.
Steps lead from the parking area to the front door of the property. The cosy cottage has been carefully converted from a former farm building and retains many of its original features, such as exposed beams and stonework. The inviting lounge has been furnished in a traditional style and there is a warming wood burner to snuggle beside on chilly winter’s evenings. The compact kitchen has been cleverly configured to include everything you need to rustle up tasty meals and light snacks. To the front of the property there is a sunroom overlooking the garden, where you can sip a morning coffee or share romantic dinners for two. When day turns to night, retire to the peaceful double bedroom. A spacious bathroom completes the accommodation.
Outside, you’ll find a decked area with outdoor furniture. This area is a real sun trap and is a lovely spot to sit and relax with a glass of wine at the end of a busy day. Guests also have access to a shared lawn, along with a hot tub and summerhouse (at an additional cost).
