Property code: 91581

Romantic retreat with walks and wildlife on the doorstep, an ideal base for couples looking for a quiet escape within driving distance of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and beaches.

The cottage is located on a tranquil farm, just outside the village of Little Newcastle, south of Fishguard (7.4 miles) and east of St David's (16.6 miles). The small farm has sheep, goats and chickens and boasts its own on site wilderness walks and unofficial nature reserve giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the grounds and the wildlife right from your front door. The cottage's central Pembrokeshire location means there's plenty to do whether it be on land or sea. Head north to the Preseli Hills (6 miles) for miles of hiking or head to the Pembrokeshire Coast path (8.5 miles) and take in the fantastic scenery with both short and long routes available. The are plenty of beaches to choose from such as Newgale (12 miles) and White Sands (20 miles), where you can try your hand at watersports or simply just soak up the sun.

As you enter the cottage you are welcomed into an open plan lounge/kitchen/diner which has been sympathetically refurbished to offer a contemporary living space without losing any of the cottage's charm. The lounge benefits from a comfortable sofa and two armchairs centred around the cosy wood-burning stove and TV. There is a dining table to enjoy meals together or relax at night with some board games. The contemporary kitchen provides all you could need to rustle up breakfast or a romantic dinner at the end of a long day exploring the county. Head through the hallway corridor and you will find the master bedroom. There is a king-size sleigh bed and beautiful antique Welsh dresser. The bathroom leads off from here and has a convenient double shower, basin and WC. There is ladder access to the eaves of the cottage where a cosy, secret nook has been created to read or just relax - caution advised on ladder.

Externally, there is a private lawn garden with outdoor seating and BBQ to make the most of dining al fresco on warmer evenings. Guests are also free to explore some of the farmland land to enjoy the 'wilderness walks' .

A beautiful, spacious, airy cottage. We also loved the envionmental and sustainability touches, for example BCorp products and lots of recycling options. Thoughtful touches such as fresh garden flowers in all rooms and home baked treats on arrival made it very welcoming. The wilderness walk from the cottage across the owner's land is pleasant. The Read morelocation is very good - quite central to reach the northern, middle and southern stretches of the Pembrokeshire coast. Hide

From the moment we stepped into this cosy cottage we were made to feel welcome - all the extra touches meant such a lot and were really appreciated. Lovely comfortable bed and shower. Everything you require and nothing is too much trouble for the owners. We would recommend!

Our second visit to this property which is conveniently located close to our relatives. Well equipped and comfortable with fresh bread, milk, eggs, cookies, flapjacks, wine and fruit bowl provided on check in.
