This cottage is located in the tranquil village of Gamblesby, which has a large central village green surrounded by 18th and 19th-century red sandstone buildings, and it is just 15 miles from Ullswater. This is a great base to enjoy a boat trip or visit the waterfalls at Aira Force. The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall are both less than 30 miles away. The local area has some excellent walks plus numerous cycle routes. The Coast-to-Coast route runs within a few miles of the village. Penrith (10 miles) has lots of interesting local shops, independent restaurants and pubs. Long Meg and her Daughters (a Neolithic stone circle) is 4 miles away, as well as numerous historic sites and castles. Train enthusiasts must visit the narrow-gauge South Tynedale Railway and the Settle to Carlisle railway line, less than 6 miles away.

With its peaceful atmosphere, this property offers a romantic retreat. It’s an immaculate and stylishly presented barn conversion, adjoining the owner’s art studio. You enter the property through the double patio doors which lead into a bright and spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room which has cosy underfloor heating. The kitchen is well-equipped with a contemporary island and has everything you need to prepare a tasty breakfast or evening meal. The lounge has comfy seating where you can kick back and catch up on your favourite series or movie on the Smart TV after a day of exploring. Off the lounge area, you will find the spacious en-suite bedroom with feature four-poster bed. Finally, from the kitchen area, there is access to a utility/laundry room which is shared with the owners.

Through the patio doors from the lounge/kitchen, you will find a private, raised decking area which has lighting. It’s a wonderful spot to sit out in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine or on a sunny day, read a good book. There are steps leading to the owners’ well-tended garden which you are welcome to explore. From here, a grassy path leads to an old mill pond where you can enjoy 360-degree views of the village and countryside.
