This unique haven sits within 50 acres of breathtaking rolling countryside, just a few miles from the Cornwall border which allows guests to tour both counties with ease. Enjoy the outstanding views and surrounding picturesque countryside walks in this peaceful location, or head to the coast to strike out on the South West Coast Path from Bude, 12 miles away. The coastal town has three glorious sandy beaches and provides a fine array of local shops and eateries. Further afield is the mythical Tintagel, famed for the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, along with other historic fishing villages including Boscastle and Clovelly, all of which are within 30 miles.

Step inside this beautiful lodge and into the perfectly designed and comfortable studio-style lounge/kitchen/dining/sleeping area. The lounge area has a Smart TV and lovely views of the grounds and lakes. This brilliantly flexible and sociable space includes ample room to lounge and dine, and here you can relax in style after a day of exploring. Also included here is the compact, yet perfectly appointed, kitchen which boats an air fryer and coffee machine. Enjoy preparing fresh ingredients sourced from one of the many local farmers’ markets. The space provides a relaxing sofa, which can also pull out as a king-size sofa bed upon request. In the sleeping area, you will find a comfortable king-size bed, and completing the property is a perfectly appointed shower room. Just under 0.5 miles from the property is the fabulous, shared, indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, complete with changing rooms and showers.

Venture outside where further highlights await in the form of a stunning enclosed pasture with exclusive lake access. Guests can swim over to the centre island in the lower lake, enjoy paddle boarding, relaxing and watching the array of birds at the bird watching hide or even enjoy a spot of fishing in the fully stocked, unfished lake too. There are plenty of surrounding seating areas, and even a BBQ and fire pit allowing guests to sit, unwind and dine whilst they enjoy the peace and tranquillity. There is also a pretty, calm river walk available.

  • Indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub facility a short walk/drive- contains heated indoor swimming pool, hot tub, seating, showers and changing rooms. No additional charge for these facilities. Open between 9:00am and 6:00pm all year round, and time slots can be booked with owners directly for exclusive access
  • The lake is stocked for fishing and includes Carp, Roach and Tench. However fishing on-site may vary depending on seasonal conditions, fish behaviour and angler skill
  • Pretty river walk for guests and dogs to enjoy
  • Property is set down a private lane with parking located next to the lodge
  • Beach 12.5 miles, shop and pub within 3 miles
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £150 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £20. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

The accommodation is small, but comfortable. It is in a beautiful location and is very peaceful. There is lots of wildlife around. If there has been a lot of rain or rain is forecast you will need your wellies as the ground was very marshy, muddy and wet underfoot.

Incredible location by an idyllic lake. Enclosed area for the dog to wander and a great base to get to a variety of beaches from.

Fabulous! A little bit of heaven in Devon! The pod was really well equipped, clean and had an extremely comfortable bed. We loved the setting and we couldn't believe we had so much peace and privacy. It was lovely having the pool to ourselves and Luke always replied to messages promptly. What an absolute gem of a holiday. We have just returned home and cant wait to rebook. The shepherds hut is great, set in your own 50 acres of land, over looking the lake. It is so peaceful and quiet, Rabbits, deer, owls right outside. Its fully equipped with everything you need and more, deck chairs, fire pit, kitchen utensils. A fantastic private retreat in a lovely beautiful setting. Also available to book sole use of is a pool and jacuzzi to top off that relaxing break. We were looking for a relaxing holiday and we were not disappointed, the lodge is in the middle of acres of green fields with two lakes a waterfall and lots of wildlife. The owners could not have been more helpful, we would definitely recommend if you are looking to get away for a relaxing break.
