This retreat is perfect for couples, families and friends wanting a hidden escape within the Derbyshire Dales. Each room has been perfectly styled with comfort in mind for a memorable staycation.

Discover this converted barn with uninterrupted views of the Derbyshire Dales and hillsides, set on a working farm in a peaceful location. It’s ideally situated to explore the abundance of natural beauty found in the Peak District National Park and is only 2 miles from Matlock town with its supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, and vibrant vintage shops across the bridge. The stunning Chatsworth Estate is only a 6-mile drive over the picturesque moors, with its splendid house and gardens and sprawling estate teeming with sheep and deer along the riverside, not forgetting an award-winning farm shop. There is a public footpath direct from the farm, which takes you to a beautiful woodland walk with natural dams and a waterfall, ideal for children and pets to let off some steam without getting the car out.

Step through into the kitchen/diner which is a fantastic space to rustle up a delicious meal for loved ones. Come together around the kitchen island or the farmhouse dining table. The kitchen offers a range cooker with a gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. There is a handy utility space with a washing machine and tumble dryer and downstairs WC. Get cosy in the lounge and light the wood burner, curl up with a good book or watch a film on the Smart TV. Open the patio doors and let the fresh air flood in during the warmer months. Head upstairs to the master bedroom which offers a king-size bed, vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and Smart TV. There is a picture window offering beautiful views over the valley. The second bedroom is a king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin upon request), and a further single bedroom suitable for children with outstanding views over the surrounding countryside. The bathroom is a welcoming space to relax after a day hiking the hills and offers a beautiful bath with central taps and handheld shower, separate enclosed shower, and WC.

Outside, there is a spacious enclosed courtyard garden with a wood-fired hot tub providing a special place to switch off and relax. The comfortable garden seating is perfect for those sunny days whilst you enjoy long, lazy lunches dining alfresco. There is off-road parking for two cars.

We had a lovely time at this cottage in August. It was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The courtyard was lovely and completely secure for our dog. We enjoyed going for walks from the property as well as days out further afield. The hot tub was a real bonus, although it took us a bit of practice to get Read morethe temperature right. The Carthouse is set in a beautiful location with stunning views. There is a pretty courtyard with generous seating and the added bonus of a hot tub . Inside has a very homely feel and is well equipped with everything you need while away .

Perfect get away from it all. Terrific views. Cottage well equipped and designed to high spec. Took supplies with us so no need to go anywhere. Dog must be kept downstairs which was disappointing as he small and well behaved. so ended up sleeping downstairs as he nervous rescue baby and panics if left as has abandonment issues. Fantastic weekend break and thoroughly enjoyed by us all including the dogs. Great property and great facilities including the courtyard and hot tub. Views out of this world and great walks on the doorstep. Very quiet and great property and will definitely return.

Such a beautiful cottage in a quiet countryside location and only a 5 minute drive from the town of Matlock. A wonderful luxurious base to visit all the lovely attractions nearby. Our dogs adored the secured courtyard garden and hanging out while we were using the hot tub!

Cannot fault the position of this cottage it was picturesque both inside and out due to its stylish but still homely decor. Very much enjoyed the views and local walking in the immediate area around the cottage despite the wet weather. Just what we needed a relaxing break in a beautiful, tastefully decorated cosy cottage. The dogs loved the woodland walk just across the field from the cottage.

The cottage is beautiful, clean and the owners had even left a box for our dogs with a blanket, treats etc. There was nothing more we could have asked for and will certainly be returning one day! You can access the woodland at the bottom of the farm and its lovely to walk around there. Fabulous setting - lovely walks straight from the door as well as handy for Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth, Buxton, The Monsal Trail etc. Cottage was very homely and had some nice extra touches. What a stunning place. Exceptionally clean, cosy, warm and beautiful location. The owners were lovely and very helpful when we were having issues with the wood burning hot tub. Lots of info available for activities in local area, including taxis etc. plus loads of stuff left for use such as Bluetooth speaker, hand wash, ice, washing up liquid etc. Read morewould highly recommend and definitely return in the future. A fantastic little cottage in a lovely area - close to Bakewell, Chatworth and a range of good pubs. The kids enjoyed seeing the cows every morning and the hosts were friendly and happy to give advice about the area. The cottage is well equipped and beds were comfy - we all slept well. Lovely cottage. Absolutely perfect location. Although part of the owners property we did not feel overlooked. The courtyard was wonderful for the dogs, completely escape proof. The hot tub was gorgeous at the end of the day. Definitely recommended.

A wonderfully well loved property with every attention to detail you could ask for. Truly peaceful setting, very private tranquil location with lovely walks on your doorstep which our dog loved. We had a wonderful stay here (March 2023). The cottage was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for the week. Loved that there were some blankets, towels bowls etc left for any doggy guests. Lovely cosy cottage, really secure for an escape artist dog. Beds really comfortable it was so quiet-we slept like logs. The cottage is central to many of the attractions in the Peak District and Would certainly return.My only issue would be with holiday cottages, it took 4 attempts to book the property as we wanted to take an additional dog, but tRead morehey were very reluctant to contact the owner regarding this. Very clean, comfortable & characterful house, with lots of thoughtful touches. Fabulous views from most windows and lovely walks without having to use the car. Wish we could have stayed longer! We didnt manage to get the hot tub up to the required temperature (our inexperience) and were disappointed that we couldnt use it.
