  • Reconnect with nature exploring the breath taking beauty of the Northumberland National Park
  • Discover the sweeping beaches of the Northumberland coastline, dark skies, castles, Lindisfarne and the Scottish Borders
  • Teddy's Cottage - Mindrum is the sister property to No. 7 Mindrum Mill Cottage in the same courtyard
Property code: 85422

A cosy base with enticing views and official Dark Skies located near the national park’s excellent walking and cycling routes, with access to local towns and amenities. Perfect for couples or a small family.

This former farm worker's cottage is in a great location to discover the Cheviot Hills, Scottish Borders, and north-east coastline. It is next to the Northumberland National Park, a Dark Sky Area, and between the market towns of Wooler, Kelso, and Coldstream. The award-winning Cornhill Village Shop is 4 miles away. The Pennine Way ends at the Border Hotel and many paths lead off it. The coastline offers seemingly never-ending beaches and dramatic castle views, Alnwick Castle & gardens (of Harry Potter fame), Bamburgh Castle, and diving, surfing, and coasteering. The Tweed is close by for fishing. There are great pubs, restaurants, and breweries in the area to visit for drinks or food including the world class Northumberland Anglo-Saxon Museum and English whisky distillery Ad Gefrin.

Walk up three stone steps to enter this charming end-of-terrace cottage via the rear door, where you will find coat hooks in the hallway for your outdoor clothing. Head into the welcoming lounge/diner which offers lovely views from both windows, and you can relax on two sofas to enjoy the cosy, open fire, and watch a little Freeview TV. Enjoy your mealtimes together at the dining table or sit here with your maps spread out, to plan your next adventure in the area. The kitchen is off the lounge and has everything you need to prepare your food, with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with an icebox, and a dishwasher. Just off the kitchen, there is a utility cupboard with a washing machine and useful shelving. The spacious downstairs WC/boot room is located next to the cottage front door, with a large bench to sit on while putting on your walking boots; this is a perfect space to use as the dog’s room. Heading upstairs, you will find both bedrooms have wonderful views over rolling countryside towards the magnificent Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park. One bedroom has a king bed and wardrobe to store your belongings; after a day out and about exploring, feel revitalized by a long soak in the bath or a vigorous rain shower in the en-suite with WC. The second bedroom has two beds: a double and a separate single bed, and plenty of storage. There is a shower room with a walk-in shower and WC just down the hall.

Outside, to the rear of the property, there is a pleasant garden area located 5 metres opposite the cottage, behind the parking area with garden furniture where you can relax with a drink or dine alfresco. There is parking for two cars with additional parking available at the front of the cottage.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king size and 1 double (1 with additional single bed)

The cottage was delightful, clean, cosy and really well equipped. The open fire was an added bonus and it was lovely sitting by the fire after a day exploring the lovely countryside. The cottage is well in the countryside so I would recommend stopping in one of the larger town on the way and collecting a few days provisions. The cottage is 90 minutRead morees from Edinburgh and the Royal Yacht Brittania which we enjoyed and close to Cragside, Alnwick and Bamburgh castles. Hide

What a fantastic week we had, a very central location to be able to visit the borders, lots of lovely scenery and everyone very friendly, and then to be able to return to the delightful cottage where we felt very much at home in.

Great little cottage for us, we like to get out and about and tend not stay around during the day. Very peaceful with hardly any traffic. Excellent value for money. Felt like if we had a problem, we didn't, it would have been attended to. There's an outdoor space but not really much use for say a child to play, but that wasn't a problem for us.
